To start, in order to be able to link all those problems with development one must understand the meaning of development and the four other terms that are equality, poverty, women conditions and patriarchy. Now, what is development? It’s a process where there is change and improvement within a society. It includes a society with either economic growth, end to inequality and poverty and human development. The second term to be defined is equality. It is the right of different groups of people to have a similar social position and receive the same treatment. To have human rights, freedom, laws and opportunities no matter what race, gender or religion a person may have. The third term would be poverty that is a state of being poor where peoples basic needs are not being met by not having enough money, food, shelter, and resources. The fourth term is women’s condition this term can be understood as rights that promote a position of legal and social equality of women with m en. Such conditions are gender inequality and how women are viewed by others as inferior and are stereotyped, having fewer rights than man. Issues of this matter evolve from religion, society or any group of people who take away the rights of women. The last term would be the fifth concept I chose which is patriarchy and is it linked with the previous term women’s condition, patriarchy is a social system which men hold the power and women are partially excluded from it.
